A specialized training course in calculating the carbon footprint and carbon market studies, organized by the Lebanon Fund for Development in cooperation with the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development in the Lebanese Republic during October 2023 under the patronage of His Excellency the Lebanese Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Nizar Hani, and in partnership with ISESCO (Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), the Union of Arab Chambers, the Union of Arab Banks, and the Investment and Technology Promotion Office of UNIDO in Bahrain, it constitutes the golden key towards the transformation of the green economy in various productive and service sectors in the Arab countries by reducing carbon emissions and confronting climate changes that lead to increasing economic pressures and slow down the achievement of sustainable development goals as a result of the occurrence of global warming.
- Course objectives:
Training on calculating the carbon footprint of companies and organizations and also the carbon footprint of the product through the product life cycle aims to optimize the use of energy and materials and simulate the acceleration of the required transformations of products, manufacturing processes and value chains.
Therefore, the proposed session is considered a real breakthrough for the initiative to establish Arab national networks for entrepreneurship in carbon neutral and help them to institutionalize their specialized business in a Carbon footprint calculation So that constitutes the first initiative to improve Managing the impact of agriculture and food on climate change at the regional and Arab levels, and to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement and the Commission’s guidelines .at to understand the most important terminology and methods for calculating the carbon footprint and the value of measuring, monitoring and reporting their carbon emissions according to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and Standard ISO 14064 and 14067, as not all companies, institutions and factories have the basis for moving towards net zero with the necessary speed (As a result of the lack of information related to the carbon footprint).
